NEW BWFAN Volunteer Opportunity
Are you aware that the lower level of Becket’s Town Hall serves as a warming and cooling center for community members in need?
Most Becket residents don’t know it exists. At present, Town Administrator Kathe Warden is unable to advertise this resource publicly, as the center can only open in response to emergency requests from the police or fire departments — due solely to the lack of available staff.
With a roster of volunteer hosts in place, she would be able to expand the program and make it known throughout the community. This could provide meaningful assistance to vulnerable residents during the coldest winter months and summer heat waves alike.
The time commitment for volunteers would be modest, but the impact on those in need could be considerable. If you are interested in volunteering, please contact Adele Levine at aklevine38@gmail.com or (443) 538-3689. A meeting will then be arranged with Kathe, at which she will describe the program and answer any questions you may have. Thank you!
